Start with the prize, then invent the teams

Before anyone touches a joystick, agree on two films everyone is happy to watch. The winning team gets the final pick. That small decision keeps the evening playful and avoids a last-minute debate when everyone is ready to sit down.

Split into pairs or small teams and let each choose a ridiculous name. “The Sofa Champions” is available. Keep one shared scorecard on paper or a phone, and appoint a scorekeeper who rotates with the players. No money or elaborate prizes needed.

Three short rounds beat one endless tournament

Choose three activities your group actually wants to try. The house has arcade games, air hockey, a pool table, foosball and board games, so there is room to mix styles. Check the equipment and instructions when you arrive; pick alternatives if a particular game does not suit your crew.

Set a short time limit for each round before starting. Give one team point for winning a round and split the point on a tie. Rotate players between rounds so the same expert does not carry every game. A spectator can become the commentator or next scorekeeper.

Make the comeback part of the fun

After round two, let the trailing team choose the final activity from your agreed list. Keep the same scoring. You get a little suspense without turning a friendly evening into a rules committee.

For mixed ages or experience levels, try a cooperative goal instead: beat your own first-round score together. Participation can also mean choosing the film, keeping score or cheering. Nobody needs to be good at every game to belong in the room.

Roll the credits on the competition

Call the final score, put the games away and settle into the movie theater. Check your chosen film's availability before promising a particular title; streaming access and subscriptions are not included in this plan.

Keep the gathering to your registered guests and respect the house rules: no parties or events, with quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. The Rally House sleeps up to 10 across four bedrooms, so share the sleeping layout with your group before booking.
