How to judge a backyard green before you book
Photographs flatter turf. What matters is whether the green has more than one usable line, whether there is somewhere to stand and watch, and whether it is lit and close enough to the rest of the yard that people drift over instead of making a plan.
- Multiple holes and breaks, not a single flat strip of turf
- Seating and shade within a few steps
- Evening light, because most putting happens after dinner
- A pool, spa or firepit next to it so the group stays together
The green at The Rally House
The Rally House keeps its putting green in the same backyard as the heated pool and spa, the firepit lounge and the private pickleball court — so the evening moves between them rather than ending. Four bedrooms sleep up to 10, which is the size of group that gets the most out of it.
Pair it with the golf
The green is practice, not the trip. Our Scottsdale golf guide covers the courses worth the drive from the house, with fees, drive times and directions, and the dining guide handles the reservation you should make before you land.
